PINEAPPLE, ORANGE, MANGO, BANANA SMOOTHIE

Pineapple, Orange, Mango, Banana Smoothie image

I make this delkcious smoothie every single morning, and not only is it an extremely healthy way to start the day but it's also very quick & simple to make! The added protein powder replaces any high-calorie protein that you might normally have on the morning (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc) and it will help keep you full longer than if it were just a pure fruit smoothie. I buy the frozen pineapple and mango chunks from Costco, and each week I buy a bunch of ripe bananas and peel them, cut them in half and throw them in a bag in the freezer. Then it takes me less than 5 mins to make it in the morning. And this has also replaced my morning coffee habit of 2 cups a day because I add 1/8 tsp of caffeine powder to it as well.

PINEAPPLE, ORANGE, GRANOLA AND CARROT SMOOTHIE

Pineapple, Orange, Granola and Carrot Smoothie image

I never thought about adding vegetables to smoothies until I tasted a lunchtime smoothie my sister made that included spinach, pear and walnuts. These are ingredients I like in a salad, and they work well together after taking a trip through the blender - especially with fresh ginger added to the mix. With that, I broadened my horizons and explored fruit and vegetable smoothies. I'd picked several pounds of oranges from a friend's tree, so I used fresh orange juice as the liquid, and for each drink I combined one or two fruits with a vegetable. I was thinking the smoothies would make great snacks, but in fact these make satisfying meals. They're packed with vitamins, especially C and A, beta carotene, and antioxidant-rich flavonoids. A small amount of granola contributes great texture to this tangy smoothie. I prefer the thick version without the ice cubes, but that's a matter of taste. Pineapple is an excellent source of manganese and contains an enzyme called bromelain that aids digestion.

Provided by Dancer

Categories     Smoothies

Time 10m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1 tablespoon coconut milk (thick)
1/2 banana
1/4 teaspoon gingerroot, fresh,peeled,grated
1/2 cup crushed ice or 2 small ice cubes

Steps:

  • Blend all ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and fresh fruits: Using ripe fruits will result in a sweeter and more flavorful smoothie. Look for pineapples that are golden yellow in color and have a sweet smell. Oranges should be firm and have a deep orange color.
  • Adjust the sweetness: The sweetness of the smoothie can be adjusted by adding more or less honey or agave syrup. If you prefer a tarter smoothie, you can omit the sweetener altogether.
  • Use a high-powered blender: A high-powered blender will ensure that the smoothie is smooth and creamy. If you do not have a high-powered blender, you may need to blend the smoothie for a longer period of time.
  • Add ice for a thicker smoothie: If you want a thicker smoothie, you can add some ice cubes to the blender. This will also help to cool the smoothie down.
  • Make ahead of time: The pineapple orange smoothie can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. This makes it a great option for busy mornings.

Conclusion:

The pineapple orange smoothie is a refreshing and nutritious way to start your day. It is packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The smoothie is also a good source of fiber, which can help to keep you feeling full and satisfied. Whether you are looking for a quick and easy breakfast or a healthy snack, the pineapple orange smoothie is a great option.
