Tips:

  • Make sure the butter is cold and cubed before creaming it with the sugar. This will help to create a light and flaky shortbread.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the shortbread tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help to prevent the shortbread from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the shortbread until it is just set. The edges should be golden brown and the center should be slightly soft.
  • Let the shortbread cool completely before cutting it into squares. This will help to prevent the shortbread from crumbling.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can use a pastry blender or two forks to cut the butter into the flour.
  • You can add different flavorings to the shortbread, such as vanilla extract, almond extract, or citrus zest.
  • You can also top the shortbread with different toppings, such as chopped nuts, dried fruits, or a sprinkle of sugar.

Conclusion:

Praline shortbread squares are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are made with a simple shortbread dough that is topped with a layer of praline filling. The shortbread is buttery and flaky, while the praline filling is sweet and nutty. These squares are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them!
