1 can(s) beef broth
2 tsp prepared horseradish
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp ground mustard
1/4 tsp celery salt
5 oz deli corned beef, chopped
1 c sauerkraut, rinsed and well drained
2 slice rye bread, cubed
4 slice swiss cheese

Steps:

  • 1. In a small skillet, saute onion in oil until tender.
  • 2. In large saucepan, bring the vegetable and beef broths to a boil. Stir in the horseradish, worcestershire sauce, mustard and celery salt. Add the corned beef, sauerkraut and onion.
  • 3. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 10 mins.
  • 4. Ladle soup into 4 oven-proof bowls. Top each with bread cubes and a slice of cheese. Broil 3-4 inches from heat for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make a big difference in the taste of your chowder. Look for high-quality seafood, vegetables, and dairy products.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot: When adding the ingredients to the pot, make sure to leave some space for the liquid to circulate. Overcrowding the pot will prevent the ingredients from cooking evenly.
  • Cook the vegetables until they are tender but still have a little bit of crunch: You don't want the vegetables to be mushy, but you also don't want them to be too hard.
  • Add the seafood and dairy products last: This will help to prevent the seafood from overcooking and the dairy products from curdling.
  • Season the chowder to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice or a dollop of sour cream for a little extra flavor.

Conclusion:

Reuben chowder is a hearty, flavorful soup that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its unique combination of flavors and textures, reuben chowder is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
