Paula Deen's Lemon Salad Dressing image

I just saw this recipe on her show, and had to try it out! It is delicious, refreshing, and brightens up any salad. Simple ingredients that you always have on hand. No need to buy premade bottled dressing when you can make it for cheap at home, and tastes much better!!!

Categories     Salad Dressings

Time 3m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup olive oil or 1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons sugar
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
kosher salt
fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • In a glass jar with a tight lid, combine lemon juice, oil, sugar, garlic, and Dijon mustard.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Shake well and drizzle dressing over the salad just before serving.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, seasonal ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better your salad will taste. Try to use fruits and vegetables that are in season, as they will be at their peak flavor.
  • Wash your greens thoroughly: This will help to remove any dirt or bacteria. You can wash your greens in a salad spinner or simply rinse them under cold water.
  • Dry your greens thoroughly: This will help to prevent the dressing from making your salad soggy. You can dry your greens with a salad spinner or simply pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Use a light hand with the dressing: You don't want to overpower the flavors of your salad. Start with a small amount of dressing and add more to taste.
  • Add some protein: This will help to make your salad more satisfying. You can add cooked chicken, fish, beans, or tofu. You could even try a hard-boiled egg.
  • Add some healthy fats: This will help to round out the flavor of your salad and make it more satisfying. You can add nuts, seeds, or avocado.
  • Add some fresh herbs: This will help to brighten up the flavor of your salad. You can add cilantro, parsley, basil, or mint.
  • Serve your salad immediately: Salads are best when they are served fresh. Don't let them sit around for too long, or the greens will start to wilt.

Conclusion:

Salads are a healthy and delicious way to get your daily dose of fruits and vegetables. With so many different ingredients and flavors to choose from, there are endless possibilities when it comes to creating salads. So get creative and experiment with different combinations until you find a salad that you love. And don't forget to enjoy your salad fresh!
