SAUTEED BANANAS

SAUTEED BANANAS image

Categories     Fruit     Dessert     Sauté     Quick & Easy

Yield 3-4 people

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 Ripe Bananas
Flour for dredging
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons sugar plus more for serving
Fresh lemon juice

Steps:

  • Peel bananas and cut once crosswise and once lengthwise, so each banana is cut into four pieces. Heat the butter in a large, deep skillet over medium high heat. Dredge the bananas in flour, shaking off excess. Wait for butter foam to subside, then add bananas to skillet. Cook, turning frequently, until golden-about 10 minutes. Add sugar, then cook for 1 more minute. Serve with sugar and lemon juice.

Tips:

  • Select ripe bananas: Use ripe but firm bananas for sautéing, as they will hold their shape better and have a sweeter flavor.
  • Use a high-heat cooking oil: A high-heat cooking oil, such as canola or grapeseed oil, is best for sautéing bananas. This will help prevent them from sticking to the pan and burning.
  • Cook the bananas over medium-high heat: Medium-high heat will help the bananas caramelize and develop a slightly crispy exterior.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When sautéing bananas, it's important not to overcrowd the pan. This will prevent them from cooking evenly and will make them more likely to stick to the pan.
  • Stir the bananas frequently: Stir the bananas frequently while they are cooking to ensure that they cook evenly.
  • Don't overcook the bananas: Bananas should be cooked until they are just tender and slightly caramelized. Overcooked bananas will become mushy and lose their flavor.
  • Add spices and seasonings to taste: Sautéed bananas can be seasoned with a variety of spices and seasonings. Common additions include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and vanilla extract.
  • Use sautéed bananas in a variety of dishes: Sautéed bananas can be used in a variety of dishes, such as pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, and smoothies. They can also be used as a topping for ice cream or frozen yogurt.

Conclusion:

Sautéed bananas are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. They are a great way to use up ripe bananas and can be added to a variety of dishes to add sweetness and flavor. With a few simple tips, you can easily make perfect sautéed bananas at home. Enjoy and happy cooking!
