1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1 baked and cooled 9 inch pie shell
3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
4 large eggs, yolks and whites seperated (cover whites and leave at room temperature until used)
1 1/2 cups hot water
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
