Tips:

  • Choose the right olives: The best olives for this recipe are firm and slightly green. Avoid olives that are too ripe or wrinkled.
  • Make sure to use fresh herbs and spices: Fresh herbs and spices will give the olives the best flavor. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but be sure to use half the amount.
  • Don't overcrowd the jar: When you're packing the olives into the jar, make sure not to overcrowd them. This will prevent the olives from getting bruised and will also allow the marinade to circulate properly.
  • Let the olives marinate for at least 24 hours: The longer the olives marinate, the more flavorful they will be. If you're short on time, you can marinate the olives for as little as 12 hours, but the flavor will be best if you marinate them for at least 24 hours.
  • Store the olives in a cool, dark place: Once the olives are marinated, store them in a cool, dark place. This will help to preserve the flavor of the olives and will also prevent them from spoiling.

Conclusion:

Spiced olives with lemon and fennel are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They're perfect for parties or potlucks, and they also make a great gift. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and unique olive that is sure to impress your friends and family.
