Sugar & Spice Pecans image

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 cups Pecan Halves
1 Egg Whites
1 teaspoon Cold Water
1 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Ginger
1/4 teaspoon Ground Clove
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla

  • Fold in pecan halves and all spices.
  • Spread onto prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 1 hour.
  • Let cool and break apart as needed.

Tips for Making Perfect Sugar Pecans:

  • Use fresh pecans. Fresh pecans have a sweeter, more flavorful taste than older pecans.
  • Roast the pecans before candying them. Roasting the pecans will help to bring out their natural flavor and make them more crispy.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan. A heavy-bottomed saucepan will help to prevent the sugar from burning.
  • Use a candy thermometer. A candy thermometer will help you to ensure that the sugar syrup reaches the correct temperature.
  • Stir the sugar syrup constantly. Stirring the sugar syrup constantly will help to prevent it from crystallizing.
  • Let the pecans cool completely before storing them. This will help to prevent them from sticking together.

Conclusion:

Sugar pecans are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for snacking, baking, or adding to salads. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make your own sugar pecans at home. So next time you are looking for a sweet and crunchy snack, give sugar pecans a try!
