The trick to this is cutting the meat nice and thin while it is still a bit frozen. I like it hotter, I put an average amount of red peppers down in the recipe. If you like it mild, take them out.

1 beef sirloin steak (1 lb.), well trimmed
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/4 cup KRAFT Lite Asian Toasted Sesame Dressing
2 Tbsp. hoisin sauce
2 Tbsp. lite soy sauce
2 tsp. cornstarch
2 tsp. oil
1 cup matchlike carrot sticks
2 stalks celery, thinly sliced
3 large green onions, sliced

  • CUT steak crosswise into thin slices, then cut each slice into thin strips. Place meat in medium bowl. Add garlic and crushed pepper; mix lightly. Combine next 4 ingredients. HEAT oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add meat, in batches; stir-fry 1 to 2 min. or until meat is barely pink in center. Transfer to plate; set aside. ADD carrots and celery to skillet; stir-fry 2 min. Return meat to skillet along with the dressing mixture; stir-fry 1 to 2 min. or until meat is done and sauce is slightly thickened. Stir in onions.

Tips:

  • Prep in advance: This recipe involves several steps, so it's helpful to prep your ingredients and sauces beforehand. This will make the cooking process smoother and more efficient.
  • Use a sharp knife: Slicing the beef thinly against the grain ensures tender and flavorful results. A sharp knife makes this task easier and safer.
  • Marinate the beef: The marinade not only adds flavor but also tenderizes the meat. Be sure to let it rest for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight for maximum flavor.
  • Use a large skillet or wok: This allows you to spread out the beef and vegetables in a single layer, ensuring even cooking.
  • Cook the beef in batches: To prevent overcrowding and ensure that the beef cooks evenly, cook it in batches. Remove each batch from the skillet or wok before returning the next batch.
  • Stir-fry quickly and continuously: This technique helps preserve the texture and flavor of the beef and vegetables, preventing them from becoming soggy or overcooked.
  • Adjust the sauce to taste: The sauce is customizable, so feel free to adjust the flavors to your liking. You can add more chili paste for extra heat, more soy sauce for saltiness, or more sugar for sweetness.

Conclusion:

Szechuan shredded beef is a classic Sichuan dish that combines tender beef, crunchy vegetables, and a flavorful sauce. By following these tips and the recipe steps carefully, you can create a delicious and authentic dish that will impress your family and friends.
