LOW-FAT TERIYAKI GRILLED TUNA STEAKS

Low-Fat Teriyaki Grilled Tuna Steaks image

This is a wonderful, easy, and tasty way to prepare tuna steaks on the grill. I remember the first time I ate a tuna steak, was at a restaurant in N.C., and it was slathered with this herb butter. I remember thinking, why ruin a beautiful tuna steak by adding all that fat, when it doesn't even need it to taste incredible! This marinade adds just the right amount of flavor without piling on the fat...which leads to packing on the pounds!!!

Number Of Ingredients 2

2 tuna steaks
teriyaki with roasted garlic marinade

Steps:

  • 1. Put steaks into a plastic bag and pour marinate over. Let marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour, turning often.
  • 2. Fry steaks with the marinate from the bag until no longer pink inside.
  • 3. Serve with long grain and wild rice and your choice of vegetables or a salad. Crusty bread goes well with this dish.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tuna steaks. Look for steaks that are about 1 inch thick and have a deep red color. Avoid steaks that are thin or have a grayish color.
  • Marinate the tuna steaks. Marinating the tuna steaks helps to tenderize them and infuse them with flavor. You can use a variety of marinades, such as soy sauce, mirin, sake, and ginger. Marinate the tuna steaks for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Cook the tuna steaks over high heat. This will help to sear the outside of the tuna steaks and keep them from becoming dry. Cook the tuna steaks for about 2 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Serve the tuna steaks immediately. Tuna steaks are best served immediately after they are cooked. You can serve them with a variety of sides, such as rice, vegetables, or salad.
