Pop them into the freezer for a few minutes if you like them thicker. Or try different flavors using chocolate or strawberry ice cream. -Martha Miller, Camp Zama, Japan

Provided by Sunny Anderson

Time 23m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup sugar
1 stick butter, cut into cubes
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 semi-ripe bananas, peeled and cut into chunks
1 pint vanilla ice cream
1-ounce banana liqueur (recommended: 99 Bananas) 1-ounce white rum

Steps:

  • Melt sugar in a small saucepot on medium heat. When sugar has melted to an amber color, add butter, stirring until melted. Remove from heat and slowly stir in cream being careful not to splatter. Pour half the caramel into a bowl and set aside. Fold bananas into remaining caramel in saucepot and return to medium-high heat. Stir to combine and cook until tender, about 2 minutes. Set aside and let cool slightly. Add ice cream, banana-caramel mixture, banana liqueur and rum to a blender and blitz until smooth. Drizzle remaining caramel down the sides of glass goblets. Pour in shake and serve.

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 scoops ice cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup whole milk
3 tablespoons instant malted milk powder
1 -2 tablespoon instant pudding mix

Steps:

  • Scoop the ice cream into a blender.
  • Fill the blender with whole milk until it just covers the first scoop (approximately 1 cup).
  • Put in the vanilla if this is a vanilla oriented shake.
  • Put in the pudding mix (be creative with the flavor).
  • Here you can stick in whatever extra flavor you want. I have tried peanut butter, bananas, chocolate syrup, strawberries, or nothing.
  • Last put in the malt if you want it malted.
  • Blend in bursts, then blend somewhat slowly to consistency of choice.
  • Enjoy thick milkshake.

THICK BANANA MILKSHAKE

Thick Banana Milkshake image

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 cup milk
1/3 cup dry milk powder
1 banana ripe medium, peeled and chunked
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 to 8 ice cubes
Sweetening to taste

Steps:

  • In blender or food processor combine above ingredients until smooth and creamy.

Nutrition Facts : Nutritional Facts Serves

Tips:

  • Utilize ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and creamier your milkshake will be. You can also freeze ripe bananas and use them later for a thicker, colder milkshake.
  • Adjust sweetness: Depending on your taste preferences and the ripeness of the bananas, you can adjust the amount of sugar or honey added to the milkshake. Start with a small amount and gradually increase until you reach the desired sweetness.
  • Use high-quality ice cream: For a richer and creamier milkshake, opt for high-quality ice cream. You can use vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, or a combination of both for a more decadent flavor.
  • Add mix-ins: Enhance the flavor and texture of your milkshake by adding mix-ins such as chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, or fresh fruit. Get creative and experiment with different combinations to create unique and delicious milkshakes.
  • Chill the glass: Before pouring the milkshake, chill the glass in the freezer for a few minutes. This will help keep the milkshake colder for longer and prevent it from melting too quickly.

Conclusion:

Creating a thick and delicious banana milkshake at home is a simple and enjoyable process. With the right ingredients, a few simple steps, and some creativity, you can indulge in a refreshing and satisfying milkshake that rivals those from your favorite milkshake shop. Experiment with different flavors, mix-ins, and toppings to find your perfect combination and impress your friends and family with your milkshake-making skills.
