Number Of Ingredients 11

Base frosting
3 cups (6 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
10 1/2 cups (2 1/2 to 2 3/4 pounds) powdered sugar
3 tablespoons whipping cream
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Vanilla frosting
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Almond frosting
1 teaspoon almond extract
6 drops yellow food coloring
Unsprayed (nontoxic) mini roses

Steps:

  • For base frosting:
  • Using electric mixer, beat butter in large bowl until fluffy. Gradually beat in sugar, then cream and vanilla. Divide between 2 bowls.

Tips:

  • Prep ingredients in advance: Ensure all ingredients are measured and ready to use before starting the frosting.
  • Use unsalted butter: This allows you to control the saltiness of the frosting.
  • Bring butter to room temperature: This helps it mix smoothly with the other ingredients.
  • Don't overbeat the frosting: Too much mixing can cause the frosting to become runny.
  • Chill the frosting before use: This helps it hold its shape.
  • Adjust the consistency: If the frosting is too thick, add a small amount of milk or cream. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar.
  • Flavor variations: Experiment with different extracts, spices, or flavorings to create different flavor combinations.
