BLACK WALNUT RAISIN OATMEAL COOKIES

Black Walnut Raisin Oatmeal Cookies image

Moist and Delicious

Provided by Patricia Yates

Categories     Cookies

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/4 c butter
3/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 can(s) sugar
1 1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 Tbsp baking soda
pinch salt
1 egg
1 1/2 c flour
3 c oatmeal
1 1/2 c black walnuts
1 c raisins

Steps:

  • 1. In Large mixing bowl beat butter until fluffy; add sugars, spices and soda. Beat until all is combined. Add the egg and beat until combines. Beat in flour slowly and stir in oats, walnuts and raisins
  • 2. Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart unto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute then transfer to wire racks until cool.

Tips:

  • Measuring Ingredients Accurately: Use a kitchen scale to measure the ingredients precisely. This ensures consistent results and prevents the cookies from becoming too dry or too soft.
  • Chopping Nuts and Raisins: Chop the walnuts and raisins into small, uniform pieces. This will help them distribute evenly throughout the cookies and provide a pleasant texture.
  • Creaming Butter and Sugar: Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This incorporates air into the mixture, resulting in soft and chewy cookies.
  • Gradually Adding Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined. Overmixing can result in tough and dense cookies.
  • Chilling the Dough: Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents them from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Baking at the Right Temperature: Bake the cookies at the specified temperature in the recipe. Baking at a higher temperature may cause the cookies to burn, while baking at a lower temperature may result in undercooked cookies.
  • Cooling the Cookies Properly: Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before storing them. This helps prevent them from becoming soggy.

Conclusion:

Walnut raisin cookies are a classic treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With their sweet and nutty flavor, chewy texture, and simple ingredients, they are a perfect addition to any cookie jar.
