1 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup crushed crisp rice cereal
15 red and/or green maraschino cherries, halved and patted dry

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream the butter, cream cheese and sugar. Beat in almond extract. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until easy to handle., Shape dough into 1-in. balls; roll in crushed cereal. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. 2 sticks salted butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 egg yolks, stirred
Zest and juice of 1 lemon
Zest of 1 orange
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted twice
Green and red candied cherries, for topping

Steps:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the vanilla, egg yolks, lemon zest and juice and orange zest and mix until combined. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the bowl, then mix again. Add the sifted flour and mix until combined. Transfer the dough to a resealable plastic bag and refrigerate until firm, at least 1 hour.
  • When ready to make the cookies, preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Cut about 18 candied cherries in half.
  • Roll the dough into small balls and set on the prepared baking sheets. Gently press 1 cherry half cut-side down into each ball. Bake about 20 minutes, removing the cookies from the oven before they brown. Cool on a wire rack.

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
48 undrained maraschino cherries (reserve 4 tsp cherry juice)
1 cup semisweet chocolate piece
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • Combine flour and cocoa; set aside.
  • Beat butter in a med bowl on med speed until softened.
  • Add sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  • Beat until well mixed.
  • Beat in egg and vanilla, scraping the side of the bowl.

3 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon instant coffee granules
1 cup butter
1 ¼ cups packed brown sugar
¼ cup dark corn syrup
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon cream
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter
3 tablespoons cherry juice
1 ½ cups chopped walnuts
60 maraschino cherries, halved

Steps:

  • Sift together: 3 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon ginger and 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee. Put aside.
  • Cream 1 cup butter or margarine. Add 1 1/4 cups brown sugar. Cream well. Blend in dark corn syrup, egg, and cream. Add dry ingredients and mix well.

  • Place 1/2 teaspoon filling in center of each round. Shape into a bell by folding sides of dough to meet over the filling using spatula to fold over sides. Make top of bell narrower than at the clapper end. Place 1/2 of a maraschino cherry (cut side down) at open end of each bell for clapper. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes.
