I got this recipe many years ago and have tweaked it a little to my husband's taste (and mine). Hope you like it :)

Time 10h15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 c dried navy beans, soaked overnight
1/2 lb bacon, uncooked and chopped; i use maple flavor (i have also used leftover diced honey ham, for a change)
1 onion, peeled and chopped (or diced; your preference)
4 Tbsp molasses (i like dark, but both are good)
1/2 tsp dry mustard (i use colman's original english)
1 tsp each, salt and pepper (more or less, to your liking)

Steps:

  • 1. Soak beans in water overnight. Drain.
  • 2. Mix together all ingredients in slow cooker.
  • 3. Add enough water to cover.
  • 4. Cook on high for about 8 hours; stirring frequently.

I followed the recipe exactly and the beans turned out mushy. I think I'll cook them for a shorter amount of time next time.

These beans are a bit too sweet for my taste. I would reduce the amount of molasses next time.
