Bread Pudding made with White Bread image

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 lb white bread, firm
1/2 c raisins
1 c sugar
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
8 large eggs
6 c milk
1 Tbsp vanilla

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Toast bread on baking sheet until golden.
  • 3. Cool.
  • 4. Cover raisins in hot water and soak.
  • 5. Combine sugar, corstarch, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg.
  • 6. Whisk eggs then gradually whisk in sugar mix.
  • 7. Whisk in sugar mix, milk and vanilla.
  • 8. Spread toast in a 13x9 glass baking dish.
  • 9. Pour egg mix over bread.
  • 10. Drain raisins and sprinkle over top.
  • 11. Bake 50 minutes until top is golden and center is just set.
  • 12. Let stand at least 10 minutes.
