Cooked Cabbage W/ Kielbasa & Ham image

Love cabbage and this is one of the ways I make it, then serve it with hot bread.

Categories     Pork

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 large cabbage head, cored & cut into chunks
2 c beef bouillon
8 small new golden potatoes, whole & cleaned
2 c baby carrots
1 pkg beef kielbasa, fully cooked & sliced
2 c chopped, smoked ham
2 Tbsp butter, cold or room temperature
1 1/2 Tbsp dried dillweed
salt & pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. In a dutch oven place your chopped up cabbage, then pour your beef broth over the cabbage. Add your new potatoes and carrots, butter and dried dillweed and let the pot simmer until potatoes and carrot are tender.
  • 2. In a skillet heat through the keilbasa and the smoked ham until lightly browned. Now add the meat to the pot and simmer another 20-30 minutes to marry the flavors together.
  • 3. Rye bread is delicious to eat along with this dish or your favorite kind will work.

This dish is a great way to get your kids to eat their vegetables. The cabbage is cooked until it's tender and sweet, and the kielbasa and ham add a nice savory flavor. I like to serve it with a side of applesauce or cranberry sauce.

This recipe is a bit too bland for my taste. I like to add a bit of garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to give it more flavor. I also like to use a smoked kielbasa for a more intense flavor.

I've made this dish several times and it's always a hit. It's a great way to use up leftover cabbage and it's also a very affordable meal. I usually serve it with mashed potatoes and gravy, but it's also good with rice or noodles.

I'm not usually a fan of cabbage, but this recipe changed my mind. The cabbage was cooked perfectly and had a slightly sweet flavor that paired well with the salty kielbasa and ham. I'll definitely be making this again!

This dish is a staple in our household. It's quick, easy, and always a crowd-pleaser. The cabbage cooks down beautifully and absorbs all the flavors from the kielbasa and ham. We love serving it with mashed potatoes and a side of green beans.

This recipe was a total disaster! The cabbage was mushy, the kielbasa was dry, and the ham was tough. I will never be making this again.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my cabbage turned out a bit too crunchy. I think I will cook it for a few minutes longer next time.

This dish was a bit too salty for my taste, but I think that's because I used a smoked kielbasa. Next time I will use a regular kielbasa, and I think it will be perfect.
