Yield Makes about 24

Number Of Ingredients 7

Nonstick vegetable oil spray
1 1/2 cups bittersweet chocolate chips (about 9 ounces), divided
3 large egg whites, room temperature
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray 2 large baking sheets with nonstick spray. Melt 1 cup chocolate chips in glass bowl in microwave, stirring twice, about 2 minutes. Cool slightly.
  • Using electric mixer, beat whites in large bowl to soft peaks. Gradually beat in 1 cup sugar. Continue beating until mixture resembles soft marshmallow creme. Whisk 1 cup sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt in medium bowl to blend. On low speed, beat dry ingredients into meringue. Stir in lukewarm chocolate and 1/2 cup chocolate chips (dough will become very stiff).
  • Place 1/2 cup sugar in bowl. Roll 1 rounded tablespoon dough into ball; roll in sugar, coating thickly. Place on prepared sheet. Repeat with remaining dough, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake until puffed and tops crack, about 10 minutes. Cool on sheets on rack 10 minutes. Transfer to rack; cool.

Good cookies, but not the best I've ever had. I would probably make them again if I was in a pinch, but I wouldn't go out of my way to make them.

These cookies are so delicious and easy to make! I've made them several times now, and they're always a hit. I love that I can use different types of chocolate chips to change up the flavor.

These cookies were a disappointment. They were too dry and crumbly, and they didn't have much flavor.

I love these cookies! They're so easy to make, and they always turn out perfectly. I also love that I can freeze the dough and bake them whenever I want.

The cookies were good, but they weren't anything special. I've had better.

Meh. The cookies were a bit too sweet for my taste, and the texture was a bit dry. I wouldn't make them again.

These cookies were heavenly! They had the perfect balance of sweetness and richness, and the texture was soft and chewy. I loved the addition of dark chocolate chips, which added an extra layer of flavor. My family and friends raved about them, and t
