Waldorf Astoria Stew image

The NYC Waldorf Astoria became famous for several dishes. This is one of them. From FIX-IT AND FORGET-IT COOKBOOK, Feasting with Your Slow Cooker.

3 lb beef stewing meat, cubed
1 medium onion, chopped
1 c celery, sliced
2 c carrots, sliced
4 medium potatoes, cubed
3 Tbsp minute tapioca
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 can(s) tomato soup (10 3/4-oz)
1/3 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Layer meat, onion, celery, carrots, and potatoes in slow cooker.
  • 2. Sprinkle with seasonings and tapioca. Add soup and water.
  • 3. Cover. Cook on Low 7-9 hours.
