Wine-Poached Pears image

2 cups port wine
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
6 medium Bosc pears, peeled

Steps:

  • Place wine, sugar and lemon zest in a 5-qt. slow cooker; stir until sugar dissolves. Add pears., Cook, covered, on low 3-4 hours or until pears are tender, turning pears halfway through cooking. Using a slotted spoon, remove pears; cut into slices (save cooking liquid for another use).
