Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 3/4 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 c rolled oats
1/2 c nuts (optional)
1 c raisins
1/2 c unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4 c sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
6 Tbsp molasses

Steps:

  • 1. Combine first 8 ingredients (flour through raisins) in a bowl and mix well.
  • 2. In a separate bowl, cream together the remaining 4 ingredients (butter through molasses) and mix with dry ingredients.
  • 3. Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees F. for 12-15 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use old-fashioned oats for a chewier cookie. Quick-cooking oats will result in a softer cookie.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the cookies tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape and spread less.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just beginning to brown. Overbaking will make the cookies dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This will help prevent them from breaking.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Oatmeal molasses cookies are a classic for a reason. They're chewy, hearty, and full of flavor. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect oatmeal molasses cookies every time. So next time you're in the mood for a sweet treat, give these cookies a try. You won't be disappointed.
