Steps:
- Melt the two chocolates and the butter together in a double boiler.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Mix the eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla together until well blended, but do not whip.
- Whipping to a foam creates more leavening and results in a crumbly brownie.
- If the eggs are not at room temperature, stir the mixture over a hot bath just until the mixture is at a slightly warm room temperature.
- Blend in the chocolate mix.
- Sift the flour and fold in.
- Pour into a 9" x 13" pan.
- Bake at 325 degrees F for 45-50 minutes.
Tips:
- Make sure to use a good quality dark chocolate for the best flavor.
- If you don't have any Amarula cream on hand, you can substitute it with another type of cream liqueur, such as Baileys or Kahlua.
- To make the chocolate ganache, you can either use heavy cream or coconut cream. If you use coconut cream, the ganache will have a slightly sweeter flavor.
- If you want a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of espresso powder to the chocolate ganache.
- Be sure to let the chocolate ganache cool completely before using it, otherwise it will be too runny.
- When assembling the trifle, be sure to layer the ingredients in the order given in the recipe. This will help to ensure that the flavors meld together properly.
- If you want to make the trifle ahead of time, you can assemble it up to 24 hours in advance. Just be sure to keep it covered in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve it.
Conclusion:
This Amarula cream death by chocolate trifle is a rich and decadent dessert that is perfect for any special occasion.
