Steps:

  • 1. 1 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsp baking powder Combine all above ingredients in a large bowl. With spoon make well (dent) in center. Combine: 2 eggs 1 cup Amish batter * 1/4 cup oil Beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Pour egg mixture into flour mixture all at once. Stir and add additional flour a tablespoon at a time until dough cleans sides of bowl. Pour on floured board. Roll 1/2" thick. Cut out biscuit using circle cutter. Place biscuits close together on greased cookie sheet. Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter. Cover, let rise in warm place for 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality butter. This will give your biscuits a rich, flavorful taste.
  • Keep your butter cold. This will help prevent the biscuits from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. This will help create flaky layers in your biscuits.
  • Add the milk slowly, until the dough just comes together. Over-mixing the dough will make your biscuits tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the biscuits hold their shape in the oven.
  • Bake the biscuits in a hot oven (450°F) for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Conclusion:

Amish Friendship Biscuits are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for a quick breakfast, lunch, or snack. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a batch of these flaky, buttery biscuits that will disappear quickly.
