Apple Cinnamon Greek Yogurt Breakfast Parfaits image

Honey, vanilla, and cinnamon stirred into Greek yogurt and then layered with crisp apples and applesauce. We love this as a fancy fall breakfast, but it passes just as easily for a surprisingly decadent dessert.

Provided by Kare for Kitchen Treaty

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 cups Greek yogurt (I use 2%)
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 medium crisp apple (I like honeycrisp, gala, or pink lady for these, cored and diced)
1/4 cup applesauce
Additional honey and cinnamon for topping (if desired)

Steps:

  • Have two sturdy glasses, mason jars, or mini trifle bowls ready.
  • To a medium bowl, add the yogurt, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. Stir well to combine.
  • Grab 1/4 of the apples and sprinkle them at the bottom of the glasses. Add 1/3 of the yogurt, a few spoonfuls each. Depending on the size of your glass, you may need to spread the layers gently with the back of a spoon to distribute to the edge of the glass. Top with more apples (1/4), then more yogurt (1/3). Add all of the applesauce (2 tablespoons per glass), then more apples (1/4). Top with remaining yogurt and sprinkle with remaining apples. Drizzle with a little more honey and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Serve.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of yogurt flavors to create different parfait combinations. Greek yogurt is a good choice because it is high in protein and low in sugar. You can also use flavored yogurt, such as vanilla, strawberry, or blueberry.
  • Fresh fruit is the best choice for parfaits. However, you can also use frozen fruit if you don't have any fresh fruit on hand. Just be sure to thaw the fruit before using it.
  • Choose granola or nuts that are not too crunchy, otherwise they will overpower the other ingredients in the parfait. You can also use other toppings, such as honey, maple syrup, or chocolate chips.
  • Layer the ingredients in the parfait glass in a way that is visually appealing. You can start with a layer of yogurt, then add a layer of fruit, then a layer of granola, and so on. You can also get creative and make different designs with the layers.
  • Serve the parfaits immediately or chill them in the refrigerator for later. Parfaits are a great make-ahead breakfast or snack.

Conclusion:

Apple yogurt parfaits are a delicious and healthy way to start your day or enjoy as a snack. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With so many different yogurt, fruit, and granola combinations to choose from, you can create a parfait that is perfect for you. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy breakfast or snack, give apple yogurt parfaits a try.
