  • 4. TRIVIA: Bananas Foster is a dessert made from bananas and vanilla ice cream, with the sauce made from butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, dark rum, and banana liqueur. The butter, sugar and bananas are cooked, and then the alcohol is added and ignited. The bananas and sauce are then served over the ice cream. Preparation of the dish is often made into a tableside performance as a flambĂ©. (From Wikipedia)

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • Be careful not to overcook the bananas, as they will become mushy.
  • If you don't have vanilla ice cream, you can use another flavor, such as chocolate or coffee.
  • For a richer flavor, use heavy cream or half-and-half instead of milk.
  • If you don't have a kitchen torch, you can use a lighter to caramelize the sugar on top of the bananas.
  • Garnish your sundae with whipped cream, chopped nuts, or a cherry for a finishing touch.
