Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before starting, measure and gather all ingredients and equipment. This will help ensure a smooth baking process.
  • Use Fresh Pears: Select ripe, firm pears for the best flavor and texture. Bosc or Bartlett pears are good choices.
  • Don't Overcook the Pears: Cook the pears just until they are tender but still hold their shape. Overcooking will make them mushy.
  • Use a Quality Butterscotch Pudding Mix: The quality of the pudding mix will affect the flavor of the bars. Use a reputable brand and make sure the mix is fresh.
  • Press the Crust Firmly: Press the crust mixture firmly into the bottom of the pan. This will help prevent the crust from crumbling when you cut the bars.
  • Let the Bars Cool Completely: Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting and serving. This will help them set properly and prevent them from falling apart.
