BUTTERMILK CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH FUDGE ICING

Buttermilk Chocolate Cake with Fudge Icing image

This is the simplest and moistest chocolate cake I have ever found and was a favorite when I grew up. I could even whip it up as a child. This cake is also great with the boxed fluffy icing so the great chocolate flavor of the cake is not hidden.

Tips:

  • Use room temperature ingredients: This will help the cake batter to mix together smoothly and evenly.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will incorporate air into the batter, making the cake lighter and more tender.
  • Gradually add the eggs one at a time: This will help prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter: Overmixing can make the cake tough.
  • Bake the cake in a preheated oven: This will help prevent the cake from sinking in the middle.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it: This will help prevent the frosting from melting.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips or cocoa powder: You can also add a teaspoon of instant coffee powder to the batter for a deeper chocolate flavor.

Conclusion:

Chocolate pound cake with fudge icing is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is moist, flavorful, and has a rich, creamy frosting. By following the tips above, you can make a delicious chocolate pound cake that everyone will love.
