CLEMENTINES IN GINGER SYRUP, ALGERIAN

Clementines in Ginger Syrup, Algerian image

Like cinnamon in this country, cardamom plays a starring role in Algerian sweets. Paired with star anise in a gingery syrup, it gives clementine, or any small oranges, slices an irresistible aroma, but the syrup would be just as wonderful over any kind of sliced fruit.

Tips:

  • Select the right clementines: Choose clementines that are firm, plump, and have a deep orange color. Avoid any clementines that are bruised or have blemishes.
  • Use a sharp knife: When peeling the clementines, use a sharp knife to make clean, even cuts. This will help to prevent the clementines from tearing.
  • Remove the pith: After peeling the clementines, be sure to remove the white pith. This is the bitter part of the clementine and it can ruin the flavor of the syrup.
  • Use a good quality cinnamon: The cinnamon is a key ingredient in this recipe, so be sure to use a good quality cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon is a good choice, as it has a delicate flavor that won't overpower the clementines.
  • Let the syrup cool completely before using: Once you have made the cinnamon syrup, let it cool completely before using it. This will help to prevent the syrup from crystallizing.

Conclusion:

Clementines in cinnamon syrup is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. The clementines are perfectly sweetened by the cinnamon syrup and the combination of flavors is simply irresistible. This dessert is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
