Tips:

  • Use fresh cranberries. Fresh cranberries are the best choice for this sauce because they have a tart flavor that pairs well with the sweetness of the oranges and walnuts. If you can't find fresh cranberries, you can use frozen cranberries, but thaw them completely before using.
  • Choose a good quality orange. The type of orange you use will affect the flavor of the sauce. Use a sweet orange, such as a navel orange or a Valencia orange. Avoid using a sour orange, such as a Seville orange.
  • Toast the walnuts. Toasting the walnuts will bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy. You can toast the walnuts in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or you can spread them on a baking sheet and bake them in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes.
  • Don't overcook the sauce. The sauce should be cooked until it is thickened and the cranberries have burst, but it should not be overcooked, or it will become too thick and syrupy.
  • Serve the sauce warm or cold. The sauce can be served warm or cold. If you are serving it warm, reheat it gently over low heat until it is warmed through. If you are serving it cold, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Conclusion:

Cranberry orange sauce with walnuts is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes. It is perfect for Thanksgiving dinner, but it can also be used on chicken, fish, or pork. It is also a great addition to a cheeseboard or charcuterie platter. With its tart and sweet flavor, this sauce is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
