Time 45m

Yield 15-32 Small-Large Bars, 15-32 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations refrigerated flaky dough sheet
1 cup sugar
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (I use 1/3 less fat)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4-1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar mixed with 2 t. cinnamon

Steps:

  • Layer one package crescent rolls on the bottom of a 9" x 13" pan. Pat to the edges.
  • Mix together the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla and layer on top of the rolls.
  • Lay the other can of crescent rolls on top of the cream cheese mixture.
  • Pour the melted butter over all and then sprinkle with the cinnamon/sugar mixture. *When I use a full stick of butter I have pools of butter/cinnamon to spoon around after baking. If I use ½ stick it seems to do less of this. Your choice.
  • Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes.
  • Bon appetite!

Categories     Cookies     Dessert     Bake     Phyllo/Puff Pastry Dough

Yield 20-24 bars

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 Tubes (8-ounces each) of Refrigerated Crescent Rolls
2 Packages (8-oz. each) of Cream Cheese, softened
1 cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1/4 Cup of Butter, melted
2-3 Teaspoons of Ground Cinnamon, Mixed with 1/2 Cup of Sugar

Steps:

  • Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough and place it in a lightly greased 13x9x2 pan. Seal the seams and set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough. Unroll the remaining tube of dough and place over the cream cheese mixture. Seal the seams as best you can and stretch to fit. Brush butter evenly over the top of the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon/sugar mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Cool and cut into squares.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use full-fat cream cheese.
  • If you don't have a mixer, you can cream the butter and cream cheese together by hand using a wooden spoon.
  • Be sure to chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling and baking. This will help the bars hold their shape.
  • If you want a gooey center, don't over-bake the bars. They should be set around the edges but still slightly soft in the center.
  • For a crispy crust, bake the bars for a few minutes longer.
  • Dust the bars with powdered sugar before serving for a finishing touch.
