Tips:

  • Use a variety of potatoes: Using a combination of different types of potatoes, such as Yukon Gold, russet, and red potatoes, will give your soup a more complex flavor and texture.
  • Don't overcook the potatoes: Overcooked potatoes will become mushy and lose their flavor. Cook them just until they are tender, but still have a slight bite to them.
  • Use a flavorful broth: The broth you use will make a big difference in the flavor of your soup. Use a good quality chicken broth or vegetable broth, or make your own using chicken bones or vegetables.
  • Add plenty of vegetables: Vegetables add flavor, texture, and nutrients to your soup. Add any vegetables you like, such as carrots, celery, onions, garlic, leeks, or corn.
  • Use cooked chicken: Using cooked chicken will save you time and effort. You can use leftover chicken from a roasted chicken, or you can cook chicken breasts or thighs in a slow cooker or Instant Pot.
  • Season the soup to taste: Season the soup with salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice or a dollop of sour cream to brighten the flavors.

Conclusion:

Chicken potato soup is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. By following these tips, you can make a delicious and flavorful soup that will warm you up on a cold day. Serve it with a side of crusty bread or crackers for a complete meal.
