Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh vegetables, flavorful spices, and aromatic herbs will elevate the taste of your Spanish rice.
  • Rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking: This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from becoming sticky.
  • Sauté the rice in olive oil before adding it to the slow cooker: This step adds a delicious nutty flavor to the rice.
  • Use a flavorful broth: Chicken broth, vegetable broth, or even a combination of the two will add depth of flavor to the Spanish rice.
  • Add a variety of vegetables: Bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and corn are all classic additions to Spanish rice. Feel free to add other vegetables that you enjoy, such as zucchini, carrots, or peas.
  • Season the rice well: A combination of salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder is a good starting point. You can also add other spices that you like, such as chili powder, oregano, or saffron.
  • Cook the rice on low heat for 6-8 hours: This will allow the rice to absorb all of the flavors and become tender and fluffy.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving: This will help to separate the grains and make the rice light and airy.
