FETA BASIL TURKEY BURGERS

Categories     turkey

Yield 2 burgers

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 lb ground turkey (I used 94% lean ground turkey)
1/4 cup feta cheese crumbles
2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp salt
black pepper

Steps:

  • Using a gentle touch, mix together the ground turkey, feta crumbles, chopped basil, worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper with your fingertips. Make sure not to overwork the meat, just distribute all the fun goodies all throughout the meat. Shape the turkey meat into 2 patties, keeping in mind that the burger will shrink up a bit after it has cooked. Don't make the patties too thick or they'll take too long to cook. Heat up a cast iron skillet over medium heat for a couple minutes (or if you've got a grill, that'd work too). Once the pan is hot, add the turkey patties and cook for about 3 minutes on each side. Time will vary depending on how hot your pan is and how thick your patties are, but you want the center of the turkey burger to read at 165 degrees F. If you find that the burgers are browning too much before the interior is cooking through, you can put a lid on the pan. Serve the turkey burgers with any accompaniments you want, and enjoy!

Yield 4 4 oz. burgers

Number Of Ingredients 11

Ingredients
1 pound 93/7 ground turkey
1/3 cup crumbled feta
2 tablespoons white onion, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
1 tablespoon panko bread crumbs
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
5 hamburger buns
Basil pesto mayonnaise for topping* (optional)

Steps:

  • Directions In a large bowl combine all ingredients and mix until all ingredients are combined. Separate into 5 4oz balls. Roll each ball and using the palms of your hands press down until 1/2 inch thick. Cook burgers on grill or stovetop until thoroughly cooked. Recommended internal temperature should be 165 degrees Fahrenheit. *For Basil pesto mayonnaise take basil pesto (homemade or store bought) and mix with just a little light or regular mayonnaise for a creamy basil pesto mayonnaise. Perfect topping for these burgers!

Tips:

  • Choose ground turkey with a higher fat content. This will help keep the burgers moist and flavorful.
  • Mix in some bread crumbs or oats. This will help bind the turkey together and prevent it from becoming too dry.
  • Season the turkey well. Use a variety of herbs and spices to create a flavorful burger.
  • Don't overmix the turkey. Overmixing can make the burgers tough.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help prevent them from burning.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the burgers are cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the burgers on a bun with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese.

Conclusion:

Feta basil turkey burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. They are easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. These burgers are also a great way to use up leftover turkey. So next time you have some leftover turkey, be sure to try this recipe. You won't be disappointed!
