This recipe has been hanging around our family for generations.....my Mother used to bake this for us....and I still make it for my own children and my grandchildren.......I'm sure many of you remember it, or perhaps you don't make it any more, and will be glad to have the recipe again!.........K. :)

4 large eggs
1/8 tsp salt
2/3 c sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
4 c scalded milk
3/4 c grapenuts cereal
a few dots of butter, and a sprinkle of nutmeg

Steps:

  • 1. preheat oven to 350......mix first four ingredients, then add milk and grapenuts in a round casserole dish that has a cover. dot w/a tiny bit of butter, and sprinkle w/ nutmeg
  • 2. Put the casserole dish into a baking pan of water, and bake for about 1 hour or until a knife comes out clean.....let sit out without cover until it cools, then put in refrigerator with cover on till you're ready to serve!........yum!.....K. :)

1 c sugar
1 Tbsp flour
6 Tbsp grape nut cereal
3 eggs
2 c milk
2 Tbsp melted butter

Steps:

  • 1. Mix sugar, flour, and grapenuts together.
  • 2. Stir in melted butter.
  • 3. Stir in eggs, one at a time.
  • 4. Slowly stir in milk.
  • 5. Pour into 1 1/2 quart, well buttered or sprayed baking dish.
  • 6. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour.
  • 7. Check for doneness by inserting clean knife into center. The knife should come out clean and top should be golden brown.
