HEALTHY BLUEBERRY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE

Healthy Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie image

A quick recipe I thought up while trying to decide what to eat for breakfast. Great if you are trying to figure out what to do with those blueberries in the fridge or freezer! Also great on-the-go! Delicious and includes many foods that are a great way to start your day! Many of the ingredients, except for the blueberries and yogurt, are optional and vary depending on your own taste. I love cinnamon and a thick, super-cold smoothie. This recipe is super versatile, and you can change it depending on dietary needs or personal preference. Have fun with it!

Time 3m

Yield 2 cups, 1-2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup milk or 1 cup soymilk
1/2 frozen banana
2/3 cup frozen blueberries
2 tablespoons whey or 2 tablespoons soy protein
2 tablespoons almonds or 1 tablespoon flax seed meal
1 teaspoon honey (or a sprinkle of Splenda or sugar)
1 scoop ice cream (if you're making it for dessert)

Steps:

  • Dump everything together in the blender. You may need to add a little more milk to make it blend - I just splash a little in as needed, using the minimal amount because I like my shakes thick.
  • Blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use frozen blueberries for a thicker, creamier shake.
  • Add a scoop of protein powder for a post-workout boost.
  • Use almond or coconut milk instead of dairy milk for a vegan option.
  • Add a tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxseed meal for an extra dose of fiber and healthy fats.
  • Sweeten the shake with honey or maple syrup to taste.

Conclusion:

Blueberry shakes are a delicious and healthy way to start your day or refuel after a workout. They are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and they can help you feel full and satisfied. With so many different variations to choose from, there is sure to be a blueberry shake recipe that everyone will enjoy.
