Yield 1 drink, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/4 ounces jose cuervo gold tequila
1/2 ounce triple sec
4 ounces prepared sweet-and-sour mix
1 1/4 ounces amaretto liqueur
lime wedge
orange wedge
green sugar crystals

Steps:

  • Moisten the rim of a margarita glass and dip it in green sugar crystals. Or skip this step if you prefer.
  • Fill the glass with ice. Add tequila, triple sec, and sweet and sour mix.
  • Serve with a shot of amaretto on the side, and garnish with a lime wedge and orange wedge on the rim.
  • ( I don't know if you are supposed to add the amaretto to the drink once it is served, but whenever I go to Olive Garden I mix the shot of amaretto with the margarita and I think it tastes great).

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 oz amaretto disaronno
1 1/2 oz tequila reposado
1/2 oz grand marnier or cointreau
1 oz lime juice, freshly squeezed

Steps:

  • 1. Use the squeezed lime shell to moisten the rim of the glass, then dip into sugar to coat the rim.
  • 2. Put all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with some ice and shake until frosty. Strain into the prepared glass.
  • 3. You can also make this frozen but add a bit more Amaretto so the taste doesn't get diluted. Sometimes I use Amaretto to moisten the rim instead of lime.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Using fresh, high-quality ingredients will result in a better-tasting margarita. This includes using fresh limes, tequila, and Cointreau.
  • Chill your ingredients: Chilling your ingredients before making the margarita will help it to be more refreshing. This includes chilling the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and even the glasses.
  • Use a good quality tequila: The tequila is the main ingredient in a margarita, so it's important to use a good quality one. Look for a tequila that is 100% agave and has a smooth flavor.
  • Don't overshake the margarita: Overshaking the margarita will make it watery and dilute the flavors. Shake it just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Serve the margarita with a lime wedge: A lime wedge is a classic garnish for a margarita. It adds a bit of extra flavor and acidity.

Conclusion:

The Italian Margarita is a delicious and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. Whether you like your margaritas sweet, sour, or somewhere in between, there is an Italian Margarita recipe out there for you.
