I came up with this while playing around with sangria recipes. It has now become a traditional beverage at Thanksgiving and Christmas; my family actually got upset the one time I didn't make it!

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup white sugar
4 cranberry-flavored tea bags
4 slices fresh lemon
6 whole cloves
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 ½ cups water
2 (750 milliliter) bottles white wine
4 apples, cored and cut into chunks
1 ½ cups dried cranberries
2 fluid ounces apple brandy

Steps:

  • Place the sugar, tea bags, lemon slices, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and water into a saucepan, and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let mixture cool. Strain out and discard the spices, lemon, and tea bags.
  • Pour the white wine into a large jar or covered container, and mix with the tea mixture. Stir in apples and cranberries; mix in the apple brandy. Chill in refrigerator 24 to 48 hours. Serve cold.

Found in an old AllYou Magazine (Nov '09). I do not drink alcoholic beverages but have family that enjoy a glass of wine so I thought this might be a nice treat for them during Thanksgiving. Very simple to make and serve.

1 (750 ml) bottle zinfandel (or any fruity red wine)
4 cups cranberry juice, chilled
1 cup orange juice
1 orange, halved and thinly sliced
1 firm apple, cored, quartered and thinly sliced
1/2 cup fresh cranberries

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a pretty glass decanter. Chill at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Stir well and serve over ice. Garnish with extra orange slice if desired.

1 large Granny Smith apple, halved and thinly sliced
1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup whiskey

1 bottle (750 milliliters) cranberry wine or 3-1/4 cups cranberry juice
Ice cubes
6 cups cold pineapple soda

2 pints cranberry juice (100% juice is best)
2 pints orange juice
1 (750 ml) bottle red wine (I like Beaujolais, but any light fruity red wine will do.)
1 -2 orange, sliced (for garnish)

  • Pour juices and wine into punch bowl.
  • Float orange slices on top.
  • Variations: You may adjust the proportions of juice to wine, depending on the strength and flavor profile of your particular wine.
