LIME GELATIN SALAD I

Lime Gelatin Salad I image

This is a great recipe my mom got from my aunt. She has made it every year for Thanksgiving. It is a family tradition for us. It can be made a day or two ahead of time, if you like. It looks just beautiful in a cut crystal bowl. Thanksgiving is not the same without it for us! We just 'gobble' it up! Chopped walnuts can be substituted for chopped pecans.

Tips:

  • Use fresh limes: Fresh limes provide the best flavor for this salad. If you don't have fresh limes, you can use bottled lime juice, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Grate the lime zest: Grating the lime zest adds a bright, citrusy flavor to the salad. Be sure to grate the zest only, and not the white pith, which is bitter.
  • Use a good quality gelatin: Not all gelatin is created equal. For the best results, use a high-quality, unflavored gelatin. This will ensure that your salad has a smooth, consistent texture.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This salad is best served chilled. This will help the gelatin to set and firm up, and it will also allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Garnish the salad with fresh mint: Fresh mint adds a refreshing, herbaceous flavor to the salad. It's also a beautiful garnish.

Conclusion:

Lime gelatin salad is a classic dessert that is always a hit at parties and gatherings. It's easy to make, refreshing, and delicious. With its bright, citrusy flavor and creamy texture, this salad is sure to please everyone. So next time you're looking for a dessert that is both easy and impressive, give lime gelatin salad a try.
