Number Of Ingredients 11

½ cup oil
½ cup balsamic vinegar
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
1/8 cup lemon juice
¾ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp fresh rosemary
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 tsp garlic powder
6 chicken breasts or 3.5 lb chicken

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a large ziplock bag.
  • Add chicken to the bag and place the closed ziplock bag in a large bowl and put in the fridge. (The bowl will keep it from making a huge mess in case the bag leaks)
  • Marinade for at least 8 hours or overnight and grill! Enjoy!
  • (I do not add any extra salt to my chicken marinade because salt will dry the chicken out. ALWAYS salt the chicken AFTER you grill it to ensure. It will need a good bit of salt after it is done)

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Cut of Meat: Select a cut of meat that is suitable for grilling and marinating, such as flank steak, skirt steak, or chicken breasts.
  • Tenderize the Meat: Before marinating, pound the meat with a meat mallet or use a fork to poke holes in it. This helps the marinade penetrate deeper and tenderizes the meat.
  • Use a flavorful base: The base of your marinade should provide a solid foundation of flavor. Common options include olive oil, soy sauce, citrus juice, yogurt, or buttermilk.
  • Add Aromatics: Enhance the flavor of your marinade by incorporating aromatic ingredients like garlic, ginger, shallots, or onions.
  • Use Fresh Herbs and Spices: Fresh herbs and spices add a burst of flavor to marinades. Experiment with different combinations to create a unique taste profile.
  • Balance the Flavors: Strive for a harmonious balance of flavors in your marinade. Combine sweet, sour, salty, and savory elements to create a well-rounded flavor profile.
  • Let it Marinate: Allow the meat to marinate for an extended period. The longer the meat marinates, the more time it has to absorb the flavors.
  • Don't Overdo It: While marinating is essential, avoid marinating the meat for too long. Prolonged marinating can alter the texture of the meat and make it mushy.

Conclusion:

Creating a flavorful and effective marinade for grilled dishes requires careful consideration of various factors. From selecting the appropriate cut of meat to choosing flavorful ingredients and achieving a balanced flavor profile, each step contributes to the overall success of the dish. Experiment with different marinades and techniques to discover flavor combinations that tantalize your taste buds. Remember, the key to a great marinade lies in the harmony of flavors and allowing ample time for the meat to absorb these flavors. With patience and experimentation, you'll be able to create mouthwatering grilled dishes that impress your friends and family.
