BILL'S BBQ SAUCE (LARGE BATCH) RECIPE

Bill's BBQ Sauce (Large Batch) Recipe image

Provided by รก-7849

Number Of Ingredients 10

80 oz catsup
5 onions finely chopped
2.5 cups brown sugar
10 fluid oz vinegar
10 fluid oz Worcestershire sauce
3.5 tbsp chili powder
3.5 tbs liquid smoke
3.5 tbs dry mustard powder
2.5 tbs garlic powder
2.5 tbs hot sauce

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a cook pot and simmer for 15 or so minutes to meld the flavors. Do not bring to a boil! Use as you would any other BBQ sauce. If you need to thicken it up try simmering for a while or add a tablespoon of tapioca.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of ingredients: Don't be afraid to experiment with different ingredients to create your own unique barbecue sauce. Some popular ingredients include tomatoes, vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, honey, garlic, onion, and spices.
  • Start with a base: Many barbecue sauces start with a base of ketchup, tomato sauce, or even fruit juice. This gives the sauce a thick, rich consistency and a tangy flavor.
  • Add sweetness: Brown sugar, honey, or molasses are all great ways to add sweetness to your barbecue sauce. You can also use fruit, such as apples or peaches, to add a natural sweetness.
  • Add smokiness: Smoked paprika, chipotle peppers, or liquid smoke are all great ways to add a smoky flavor to your barbecue sauce. You can also grill or roast your vegetables before adding them to the sauce to give it a more smoky flavor.
  • Balance the flavors: The key to a great barbecue sauce is to balance the flavors of sweet, sour, salty, and smoky. Start by adding a small amount of each ingredient and then adjust to taste.
  • Let the sauce simmer: Simmering the sauce allows the flavors to meld and develop. The longer you simmer the sauce, the better it will taste.

Conclusion:

Making your own barbecue sauce is a great way to add a personal touch to your grilled or smoked meats. With a little experimentation, you can create a sauce that is perfect for your taste. So fire up the grill and get started on your own batch of barbecue sauce today!
