Tips:
- Choose the Right Oats: Use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best texture. Quick-cooking oats will make the meatloaf too soft, while steel-cut oats will not cook through properly.
- Soak the Oats: Soaking the oats in milk or water before adding them to the meatloaf mixture will help them to soften and absorb the liquid, resulting in a more moist and flavorful meatloaf.
- Use High-Quality Bacon: The bacon is a key ingredient in this meatloaf, so be sure to use a good quality, thick-cut bacon. Turkey bacon can be used as a healthier alternative.
- Season Generously: Don't be afraid to season the meatloaf mixture generously with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices. This will help to enhance the flavor of the meatloaf.
- Bake at the Right Temperature: Bake the meatloaf at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F (70°C).
- Let it Rest: Allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the meatloaf to set and retain its juices.
Conclusion:
Oats and bacon meatloaf is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The oats add a subtle sweetness and texture to the meatloaf, while the bacon adds a smoky and savory flavor. This meatloaf is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
