Tips:

  • Choose the right cabbage: Green cabbage is the most common type used in coleslaw, but you can also use red cabbage or a mix of both. For a sweeter slaw, use green cabbage. For a more colorful slaw, use red cabbage.
  • Shred the cabbage thinly: This will help the dressing to evenly coat the cabbage and make the slaw easier to eat. You can use a food processor or a sharp knife to shred the cabbage.
  • Use a creamy dressing: A creamy dressing is essential for a classic coleslaw. You can use mayonnaise, sour cream, or Greek yogurt as the base of your dressing. Add in some vinegar, sugar, and salt to taste.
  • Add some crunch: Add some chopped celery, carrots, or radishes to your coleslaw for some extra crunch. You can also add some toasted nuts or seeds.
  • Let the slaw chill: After you've made your coleslaw, let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the slaw to become more flavorful.
