1 tablespoon unsalted butter
pinch salt
pinch freshly ground black pepper
1 clove garlic
8 slices sourdough bread (or your favourite variety of bread)
1/2 to 1 avocado (pitted and peeled)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
sautéed mushrooms (to taste)
1/2 chili pepper (thinly sliced (or 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes))
2 tablespoons blue cheese
sautéed mushrooms (to taste)

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of mushrooms. Button mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms are all good choices for this recipe.
  • Slice the mushrooms thinly. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you add too many mushrooms to the pan at once, they will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the mushrooms until they are browned. This will give them a rich flavor.
  • Use a good quality soy sauce. The soy sauce is the key ingredient in this recipe, so it's important to use a good one.
  • Toast the bread before adding the mushrooms. This will help the bread to hold up to the mushrooms and sauce.
