Categories     Chicken Breast

Time 1h10m

Yield 5 , 5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

5 boneless skinless chicken breasts
5 slices swiss cheese (you can also try with Pepper jack, Monterey...)
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of onion soup
1/4 cup white wine (you can substitute for milk if you prefer)
seasoned stuffing mix (we recommend garlic and herbs, but you can use the plain one as well)
1/4 cup butter
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 350 F (175 C). Grease a casserole dish and season your chicken breasts.
  • 2. In a mixing bowl, mix the white wine (or the milk) with the can of cream of onion soup. Add a couple of spoonfuls of the soup and wine mixture to the casserole and spread it. Arrange your chicken breasts and cover each one of them with a slice of the cheese.
  • 3. Pour the rest of the soup and wine mixture over the chicken and the cheese.
  • 4. Pour the stuffing mix over the casserole and sprinkle it with the butter.
  • 5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for 10-15 more minutes or until golden brown.
  • Pro tip: If you're going to freeze this casserole, it's better not to add the stuffing and add it whenever you're going to eat it. That way the bread won't get soggy while it thaws. In any case, serve over rice or with a side of steamed green beans.

SWISS CHEESE CHICKEN & STUFFING

SWISS CHEESE CHICKEN & STUFFING image

Categories     Cheese     Chicken     Bake     Dinner     Lunch     Casserole/Gratin

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Lawry's seasoned salt and black pepper
4 slices baby swiss cheese
1 can Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup
1/3 can milk
1 stick butter, melted
1 small box Stovetop Chicken stuffing mix

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9x9 baking dish with cooking spray. Arrange chicken in pan and season to taste with seasoned salt and black pepper. Top each breast with a slice of cheese. Combine soup and milk in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Pour soup over chicken to cover breasts entirely. Combine melted butter and Stovetop in a small bowl (moisten a little more with some warm water if it seems too dry) and scoop over top of chicken. Cover tightly with foil and bake 30-35 minutes.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all the ingredients and equipment you need. This will help you stay organized and ensure that your chicken is cooked perfectly.
  • Use a meat thermometer: The best way to ensure that your chicken is cooked through is to use a meat thermometer. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken breast and cook until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: If you're cooking multiple pieces of chicken, make sure you don't overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the chicken from cooking evenly.
  • Let the chicken rest: Once the chicken is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the chicken, resulting in a more tender and flavorful dish.

Conclusion:

Swiss cheese chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying meal that your whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give Swiss cheese chicken a try. You won't be disappointed!
