MAPLE WALNUT BUTTER

Maple Walnut Butter image

My father has been putting this on his pancakes, waffles, and French toast since my parents got married almost 32 years ago! (Mom always had ways of spoiling us!)...Thanks to Dad, now all the men in our family (brothers, in laws, and husbands) do the same! Mom has made this with all kinds of nuts, but walnut is Dad's favorite. Give it a try;)

Provided by JamesDeansGirl

Categories     Spreads

Time 15m

Yield 1 cup

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 cup walnuts, toasted (use 3/4 cup if you like more texture and crunch)
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Place the walnuts in the workbowl of a food processor; cover and process until the nuts are ground and begin to form a paste.
  • Add the butter, maple syrup, and cinnamon; cover and process until smooth and well blended, stopping the motor and scraping down the sides of the bowl once or twice.
  • Store the butter in a covered container in the refrigerator; bring to room temperature before serving.
  • This will keep for at least 1 week.

Tips:

  • Use Fresh Walnuts: Fresh walnuts yield the best flavor and texture for your walnut butter. If you can, buy walnuts in the shell and crack them yourself just before making the butter.
  • Roast the Walnuts: Roasting the walnuts enhances their flavor and makes them easier to blend. You can roast them in the oven or in a skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently, until they are fragrant and lightly browned.
  • Use a Food Processor or High-Powered Blender: A food processor or high-powered blender is essential for making smooth and creamy walnut butter. If you don't have one, you can use a regular blender, but you may need to blend the walnuts for longer.
  • Add Oil or Milk: Adding a little oil or milk can help to smooth out the texture of your walnut butter and make it easier to spread. You can use any type of oil or milk that you like, but neutral-flavored oils like grapeseed oil or almond milk are good choices.
  • Season to Taste: Once your walnut butter is smooth and creamy, you can season it to taste. You can add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or any other spices that you like. You can also add a little honey or maple syrup for sweetness.

Conclusion:

Walnut butter is a delicious and versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of recipes. It's a great source of healthy fats, protein, and fiber, and it can be used as a spread, a dip, or an ingredient in baked goods and smoothies. With these tips, you can easily make your own walnut butter at home and enjoy its many benefits.
