1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup dark molasses
1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1 cup whole wheat flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 cup boiling water

Steps:

  • Cream butter, gradually add brown sugar and beat until fluffy.
