Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup buttermilk powder
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup sour cream
1 large egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup seltzer water*
Pure maple syrup
Do NOT substitute sparkling water such as Perrier for the seltzer water.

Steps:

  • Whisk flour, buttermilk powder, sugar, salt and baking soda together in large bowl. Whisk sour cream, egg, oil and vanilla together in medium bowl, then gently stir in seltzer. Make well in center of dry ingredients, add seltzer mixture to well, and stir gently with rubber spatula until just combined. (Batter will be lumpy with a few spots of dry flour; do not over mix.) Heat waffle iron and bake waffles according to manufacturer's instructions (use about 1/3 cup batter for 7-inch round iron). Serve with pure maple syrup.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my waffles turned out really dry. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what happened.

These waffles were delicious! I used a gluten-free flour blend and they turned out great. My whole family loved them.

I made these waffles for my family for breakfast this morning and they were a huge hit! Everyone loved them. They were so light and fluffy, and the buttermilk gave them a really nice flavor. I will definitely be making these again.

These waffles were a bit bland for my taste. I think I'll add some vanilla extract or cinnamon to the batter next time.

I've tried a lot of different waffle recipes, but this one is by far my favorite. The waffles are always light and fluffy, and they have the perfect amount of sweetness. I highly recommend this recipe!

These waffles were a little too dense for my taste. I think I might have overmixed the batter. But the flavor was good.
