Cornbread Pie image

This is a recipe I recieved from a friend. This recipe is made in a casserole dish, but if you have a 12 inch cast iron skillet you could make it a one dish.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 chopped green pepper
1 (10 ounce) can tomato soup
1/2 cup water
1 (15 1/4 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
1 tablespoon chili powder
pepper
2 packages of jiffy regular cornbread mix

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a skillet over medium high heat crumble and brown the ground beef.
  • As beef begins to cook, add chopped onion, and other ingredients, except cornbread mix, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Add ingredients into a greased 12" oblong dish 3/4 full.
  • Mix cornbread mix as directed and pour over the mixture.
  • Bake 30 minutes or until crornbread is done.

This recipe is easy to follow and the pie turned out great. I used a 9-inch pie plate instead of an 8-inch, so I had to add a little extra filling. I also used a sharp cheddar cheese instead of mild, which gave it a nice kick. Overall, this is a deli

Just made this for my potluck and it was a huge success! Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. The only change I made was using a gluten-free cornbread mix. Will definitely be making this again.

This cornbread pie was a hit at our family dinner! The cornbread crust was perfectly crispy and the filling was creamy and flavorful. I added some extra chopped bell peppers and onions to the filling for some added crunch and flavor. Definitely a kee
