This is a traditional South African dessert. These very addictive treats are not for people who are conscious of weight or sugar intake! These freeze fantastically well and are thus a great lifesaver for when unexpected company arrive. Time to make does not include overnight chilling time.

These koeksisters are a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I'll try using less sugar next time.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my koeksisters turned out really hard. I think I might have used too much flour.

I've made koeksisters many times before, but this recipe is by far the best. The koeksisters are light and fluffy, and the syrup is perfectly flavored.

These koeksisters were a disaster! The dough was too sticky and I couldn't get them to form properly. I ended up throwing the whole batch away.

I'm allergic to nuts, so I substituted the almonds in the recipe for chopped pecans. They turned out great!

I followed the recipe exactly, but my koeksisters didn't turn out as good as I hoped. They were a little too dry. I think I might have cooked them for too long.

OMG! These koeksisters turned out perfect! They're crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just like I remember them from my childhood in South Africa. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
