My mom has been making this for as long as I can remember. We thought that we lost the recipe but as she was going through her recipe drawer - there is was! We were so happy because mom turned 86 this year and if we had lost it, I know we would never have made it again. Hope you enjoy it like our family does!

Steps:
- 1. Boil over low fire (after you have mixed all ingredients above except vanilla). Stirring constantly until it thickens.
- 2. Remove from range and add drop of yellow food color and vanilla.
- 3. Pour over sliced bananas in precooked pie shell while mixture is still hot. You will need enough bananas to slice a couple of layers into the pie shells before you add the glaze. You can also sub bananas with other fruit - we just always used bananas!
- 4. After cooling, top with whipped cream that is sweetened.

[email protected]The filling was a little too runny for my taste. I think I would cook it for a little longer next time.

[email protected]I found the crust to be a little too thick and dry. I think I would use a different recipe for the crust next time.

[email protected]I'm not a fan of the glaze on this pie. I think it's too sweet and it overpowers the flavor of the bananas.

[email protected]This pie is a great way to use up overripe bananas. I always have a few bananas that are about to go bad, so this recipe is a lifesaver.

[email protected]I love that this recipe uses ripe bananas. They add so much flavor and sweetness to the pie. I also like that the glaze is made with brown sugar, which gives it a nice caramelized flavor.
